OPEN LETTER
Dear Friends,
Each time I visit India it is an unforgettable trip. I receive love and affection from my family and friends. The culture, the music, the simple minded gleeful spirit of the Indian people astounds me. But like night and day, there is also sadness and desperation. The sadness which exists in the eyes of the little children on the streets has left an indelible impression on me. I could not overlook the kids in the streets; kids without adequate food, clothes, and shelter; and no hope for schooling. Then, I realized that this problem was not unique to India, but it existed right here at home, in America. Although in different forms, this situation exists all over the world.
I thought to myself, “How come no one does anything for these kids?” Something had to change. Mahatma Gandhi said once “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” I decided to use my musical abilities to do what I can for these children. With the support of my parents, teachers, accomplished Indian musicians, and my confidence in YOU, I dedicated the last 9 months in producing the two CD albums, Priyanjali and Rainbow: A Bridge to India.
My name is Priyanka Topé. I am 13 years old, and live on Long Island, NY. I want to help kids who are in need all over the world. The entire cost of producing these two CD albums is covered by a donation from my parents. The money earned from these CD albums is being donated directly to Maharashtra Foundation to combat human trafficking, and for donation to children’s causes, including UNICEF, America’s Second Harvest, Maharogi Seva Samiti, CRY America and others (Please click on 'Links' to see all the charities). You know how inexpensive it is in most parts of the world to cover the basic needs of children. I am learning about giving. Whatever you give comes back ten-fold.
You can help support this cause, by buying these CD albums. You can be a:
Donor………………….$31 (1 set of CDs)
Supporter…….……….. $61 (2 sets of CDs)
Believer..........................$81 (3 sets of CDs)
Blesser.……………….$101 (4 sets of CDs)
Or, you can buy individual albums by visiting my website. You can either buy on-line or you can mail your checks made out to Maharashtra Foundation to:P. O. Box 87, Middle Island, NY 11953.
For more information and updates, or to purchase more CD albums, please visit my website (http://www.priyankatope.com).
Charities we donate to include, UNICEF, CRY-America, American Red Cross, America’s Second Harvest, Maharashtra Foundation, Long Island Mentoring program, and several other organizations in the US and abroad. If you would like us to donate to other charitable organizations in good standing, in the USA or abroad, which are dedicated to children’s causes, and you would like to be a Blesser and help us, we will donate the funds generated by our efforts together(through sale of these CD albums, benefit concerts, events, and any other ideas you might have) to the children’s cause of your choice.
Sincerely,
Priyanka Topé
